about

Illawarra-based artist, Nick Griffith shares new single, 'I Wanna Dance A Lot' feat. Tuffence Meringue, and an accompanying video clip – a claymation featuring a cast of plasticine monsters made by friends of Nick's.

Along with the release, he announces debut album '7am', which is out on March 20 and will feature the new track, alongside singles 'Riding on my Bike' and 'Back and Forth'.

Co-written with, and featuring Tuffence Meringue, the new project from Body Type lead singer and guitarist Sophie McComish, the skeleton of the track was written during a trip to Margaret River over Christmas 2018, and finished in true Nick Griffith style – with a SingStar microphone and distorted synths in hand.

Of the self-made and edited claymation, Griffith says, "I left a tub of plasticine on my coffee table and anyone who came over was encouraged to make a little character. After a few months I had lots of little monsters and animals which I decided would be the cast of my video. I shot it all on a cassette camera which has a very “home movie” kind of feel, as well as framing it so the viewer feels more like they’re on set, watching a more polished product coming together."

Griffith's last single, 'Riding On My Bike', received airplay on triple j, double j, 4ZZZ and FBi Radio, was one of FBi Radio's most played tracks of 2019, has been praised by the likes of triple j's Declan Byrne, David Ruby Howe and Claire Mooney, and The Music named it 'song of the year'.

lyrics

I wanna dance a lot
I wanna dance a lot
I really do

I wanna dance a lot
I wanna dance along the street with you
I really do

I wanna dance a lot
I wanna dance a lot
I really do

I wanna dance a lot
I wanna dance along the street with you
I really do

Sunsets on the West Coast
Falling asleep watching Judge Judy
Yeah

I wanna dance a lot
I wanna dance along the street with you
I really do
